Dupely — Privacy Policy

In short: Dupely runs entirely on your computer. It has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Your files, their names and their contents never leave your device — because the app does not make any network requests at all.

What data we collect

None. We do not collect, receive, store, or transmit any personal data. There is no sign-up, no licence server call, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising.

How the scan works

Dupely lists the folders you choose and compares files on your device.
To decide whether two files are identical it reads their contents and computes a checksum. This happens in memory. The contents are not copied, stored or sent.
The results — groups of identical files and their paths — live in memory while the app is open. Closing the app discards them.
Files smaller than the size threshold you set are skipped and never opened.

Deleting files — what actually happens

Nothing is deleted unless you select files and confirm.
Selected files are moved to the Windows Recycle Bin. Dupely performs no permanent deletion, so anything removed can be restored by you from the Recycle Bin.
Before you confirm, the app shows how many files and how much space are involved.

Network access

Dupely makes no network requests. You can verify this: disconnect from the internet and the application works exactly the same. The only exception is if you click a link to this website, which opens in your own browser — not inside the app.

Permissions

The app reads only the folders you explicitly choose to scan, and writes nothing except moving the files you confirm to the Recycle Bin. It requests no other system permissions.

Children

Dupely is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Since no data is collected from anyone, no data is collected from children either.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date above will change. A version that collects data would be a different product, and it would say so before you install it.
